Meet Our Amazing New Doctors!
Dear Pet Parents,
We are thrilled to announce the permanent addition of two new veterinarians to our HVH Health Care Team!
Dr. Julie Winters joins the practice in May, followed by Dr. Harrison Foy in June. Both doctors come with a wealth of knowledge and experience, each having held veterinary lead positions in their previous practices. Dr. Jim and Dr. Megan welcome our newest members of the veterinary team with open arms! We are excited and lucky to have them on board; we can't wait for you to meet them. You can read more about them below:
Julie Winters, DVM
Dr. Julie Winters grew up right here in Maryland. She received her BS degree in Biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2007 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. Upon graduation, she started working in small animal medicine and became the lead veterinarian at her hospital three years later. She will be joining Highway Veterinary Hospital in May of 2021 and is excited to be part of a team that is so focused on strengthening the family-pet bond. She enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine but especially enjoys dentistry and preventive care. Pets have always been part of her family and she knows how important it is to keep them healthy for as long as possible by protecting them from preventable diseases and detecting any illnesses early. She utilizes many fear-free strategies to keep the veterinary visit as low stress for pets as possible.
In her personal time, Dr. Julie enjoys water-skiing, running, cooking, and spending time with her husband and four children. They currently share their home with a German Shepherd, Hulk, a Golden Retriever, Emily, and three cats, Evie, Jax, and Juniper.
Harrison Foy, DVM, CVCP
Dr. Harrison Foy was born in Goldsboro, NC. He received his BS degree in Animal Science from Tennessee State University and a dual BS degree in Agriculture, with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tuskegee University in 1975. He served in the U.S. Army as Chief of Animal Disease and Prevention at Walter Reed Army Medical Facilities in Washington, DC for three years. While remaining in the Army Reserves for the next eight years, Dr. Harrison started two practices and continued in private practice for thirty years. Becoming restless after his initial retirement, Dr. Harrison re-joined the workforce as Chief of Staff for a large national corporate veterinary practice here in Bowie. Following his second retirement from veterinary medicine, he has most recently been practicing relief medicine for various practices in the Maryland area. Dr. Harrison will be joining Highway Veterinary Hospital in June 2021 as a permanent member of our pet health care team. He will bring a wealth of wisdom and knowledge as a long-time practitioner. Dr. Harrison is a Certified Veterinary Chiropractitioner (CVCP) and believes in treating "pets like humans."
When not working, Dr. Harrison enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, San Yvette Williams-Foy, DVM, and their two children, Ndidi Foy-Feinberg, MD, and Mari-Ashli Foy, DVM. That's a lot of doctors in one family! Of course, the family wouldn't be complete without Synnamin, the Dachshund.
